As we continue with Barbara Arbo’s True Confessions for Children, our verse focuses on the blessing of obedience:
Confession:
I obey my mommy and daddy for this is right, and will give me a long life.
Ephesians 6:1, NIV
Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.
Consider adding the next two verses if your student is older and can memorize more: “Honor your father and mother – which is the first commandment with a promise- that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.”
Instead of saying “because I said so” – we, as parents, can reference this verse as a promise that as they obey, they are reaping good things!
