Teens and dads are invited to “hide” the eggs for us\, and we divide the park up for age appropriate hunts. \nAll participants are encouraged to bring a few eggs to share\, and don’t forget a container for collecting eggs! \nSCHEDULE\n130 – Teens/Dads hide eggs\n200 – each area (grades PreK-K\, 1-3\, and 4+) lines up to begin their respective hunts\n230 – students search their eggs for prizes\, and any unwanted eggs are collected for the next year’s event \nWe do suggest that you talk with your students about prizes before attending. Let them know that we celebrate with those who find the special eggs\, and we are willing to share with those who may not have been as fortunate. \nIf this is a rainy day\, we will still gather under the main pavilion at the park for a modified activity and time together. \nFREE EVENT

DESCRIPTION:Join us for a valentine’s day swap and park day for the Birmingham homeschool community! \nGet creative with your valentine boxes.  There will be prizes awarded for the most creative ones! Please know that a simple box is fine for collecting a ton of greetings – no reason to not come due to lack of time to create a special box. \nValentine boxes should be dropped off by 1:45 so that they are ready for valentine delivery and judging. Valentines may be delivered any time between 2:00-2:45. Please prepare at least 50 valentines to deliver! If you want to create more\, that’s fine; we’ve found that 50 is about right in order to have plenty to give out. \nLawn chairs and picnic blankets are encouraged for visiting in the open area at this park.  And\, there is a large field that is perfect for soccer or football. \nIf you win a prize for your valentine box\, don’t forget to find a BHC representative to get a goody from our prize box. \nSCHEDULE \n1pm – Arrival and place boxes in designated area for your student’s grade or age level. \n1:45pm – Box Judging Begins \n2pm – Valentine Swap Begins \n2:45pm – Pick up boxes and clean up park for community service \n  \nSpecial thanks to Essential Church School for sponsoring and hosting this community wide event!

DESCRIPTION:Share your knowledge and experiments! We are excited to offer the BHC Science Fair for the 2025-2026 school year for all ages and grade levels. We do require you to register your student’s project by September 22 if possible. The $5 registration fee will help BHC cover the expenses of the venue\, judges\, and prizes – yes\, this event includes some friendly competition! \nREGISTER HERE\nScience Fair Information\nAll projects must be a controlled research experiment that follows the scientific method. This is not for models or for research complications. If the project is not an experiment\, your student will receive constructive comments but will not be eligible for judging. Watch videos for more information about the scientific method: \nFor more information about controlled experiments: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCLICK HERE for lesson on Controlled Experiments. \n\n\n\nProject Ideas\n\nScienceBuddies.org – click on Find A Project Idea\, then browse by topic or grade level\nEducation.com/Science-Fair\nPinterest.com – just make sure it’s a controlled experiment\n\n\nScience Fair Guidelines\n\nMake sure the project is age appropriate. The student should understand what they are doing and be able to discuss it with you. The student should pick a project that they are interested in and do the work themselves as much as possible.\nPlease do not harm any living things for your project.\nA student may enter just one project. Students may work together on a project\, but the project will be judged for the age group of the oldest child involved.\nProjects will be judged and prizes awarded for winners. All participants will receive a certificate for participating.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAll presentations must be in English and the student must be prepared to answer age-specific questions about their project during the judging process. Make sure to write everything in your own words to avoid plagiarism.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nYou do not have to have your project judged if you do not want to. Just mark that on the registration form.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe presentation must be presented on a tri-fold\, stand alone cardboard display board that can be found at Wal-Mart and other local stores for around $3.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease follow the below example as closely as possible to simplify judging. If the child cannot write\, someone else can write for them or they can draw pictures to demonstrate what they did. Photographs are also good to use.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nYou can bring materials to show the judge\, but they must fit easily in front of the poster\, they must not need to be plugged in or require other resources\, and they must not make a mess.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOn fair day\, please be there at 1:00 to get set up set up and ready for judging. The judges will walk around to each project and discuss with the student.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease note that the measurements for the poster board are 48″ long and 36″ tall. The diagram below has a mistake- the middle section measures 24″\, not 36″.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nREGISTER HERE

DESCRIPTION:We look forward to a special\, formal evening celebrating our high school graduates. \nGraduates and their parents should use Graduation Information link on the Member Page to register for participation and admissions. \nAdmissions for friends and extended family are required for attendance.  Please secure your attendance admission BEFORE May 15th.  Admissions may be offered after this date\, but they will reflect additional fees for adjustment charges.  The admission ticket allows us to plan for attendance\, cover photography\, audio/visual\, and cleaning services\, and provide security/insurance for the venue. \nAlthough admissions are not refundable\, please contact us if you are unable to attend due to illness.  We encourage everyone to continue to abide by health and safety guidelines in respect for others. \nScroll down to see the order form.  Be careful entering your email address and selecting appropriate tickets.  You will receive a confirmation email.  Please forward this confirmation to any guests for whom you are purchasing tickets\, so they can show as needed for entry. SUMMARY:Morning Testing for Grades 3-8
DESCRIPTION:We will offer 2-day group in-person testing for students in grades 3-8 at our offices.  Our testing room only accommodates 10 students\, so space is VERY limited.  (For information about online or at-home testing\, visit the Testing information under the Resources tab above) \nPLEASE NOTE:  This is a 2-day testing process.  Your student will be required to attend BOTH testing days. \nPlease complete the form below to reserve your student’s participation before April 1st.  Essential families receive a discount on the test administration.  Essential families should use the discount code:  TEST2025 \nNon-Essential students can test with us\, but you do have to verify that they are homeschooling students and where they are enrolled.  The discount code cannot be used for non-Essential students. \nPlease check out our resource page at http://essentialchurchschool.org/resources/testing for other at-home testing options. \nMORE INFO ABOUT THE TEST: \nWe are offering the Iowa Assessments Form E\, which is the most up-to-date test available to our school.  This test assesses a broad array of skills in these areas: • Vocabulary • Reading Comprehension • Language (Spelling\, Capitalization\, Punctuation\, Usage and Expression) • Math (Concepts and Estimation\, Problem Solving and Data Interpretation\, Computation) • Social Studies • Science • Sources of Information (Maps and Diagrams\, Reference Materials).  Students mark answers on a bubble sheet. Each section is timed.  Test results are thorough and highlight strengths and weaknesses. \nTEST PREP: \nYou can purchase and have your student go through a practice test.  Amazon.com offers several test prep books\, and Essential families should also explore our school library for resources. \nLOCATION: \nEssential Office Building at 4000 Eagle Point Corporate Drive \nPark up and behind office building\, and enter through back double door entrance. \n  \n\n
