Testing can be used in several ways: to measure your student”s strengths against the public population, to give you a picture of your student’s educational needs, and/or to give your student an opportunity to develop test-taking skills.
We do not recommend testing until 3rd Grade, and we do recommend that you test every year starting at 5th Grade. Why? We feel that if your student wants to go to college, then he/she will need the test-taking skills to do well on the college entrance exams (ACT/SAT) that are usually required. So, why not give your student the experience during a time when it is low pressure, so they can relax and do their best when it is high pressure?
Of course, testing is ultimately each family’s decision, and it is not a requirement for our school enrollment.
Here are some sites where you can order testing supplies:
Triangle Education Assessments – offers a selection of tests as well as online SAT10
Classical Conversations Testing Services – offers locations for group testing as well as online testing
Seton Testing Services – offers tests that you can administer in your home
Bayside School Services – offers CAT6 that you can administer in your home
Christian Liberty Press – offers online testing as well as tests which you can administer in your home
BJU Press – offers online testing, but you must have bachelor’s degree to administer paper test in your home. Contact the school if you need someone to administer this test for you (for a small fee). They also offer personality profile evaluations and career exploration testing.
